What Is Arc Flash?
An arc flash occurs when energy is suddenly released through the air as a result of a breakdown between conductors. Workers who are in close proximity to the electrical equipment at the time of the accident are very likely to be knocked back by a forceful pressure burst and suffer severe burns. Injuries from an arc flash can be fatal. As such, preventative measures must be implemented during any work performed on or near energized circuits.
This course targets workers with little or no electrical training, but who may be required to perform activities near electrical equipment. The information and strategies included in the program are derived from the CSA Z462-18 (Canada Safety Association).
Who Needs Arc Flash Safety Training?
All employees who work on or near electrical assemblies can benefit from Arc Flash Safety training.
Workers in the following industries are more likely to require Arc Flash Safety training:

Who Is Responsible for Arc Flash Safety Training?
Canadian businesses are legally required to ensure the safety of their employees. In other words, it is the responsibility of the employer to provide workers with access to Arc Flash Safety training where this is suitable.
At the same time, employees must undergo the necessary training and pass the associated examinations to demonstrate their newly-acquired knowledge. Potential job candidates can also complete this course individually in order to enhance their CVs and better prepare for a job interview.

Finally, the correct use of personal protective equipment is also part of your training.
How Long Is the Certificate Valid?
