## How the real certification exam works

There is no single national WHMIS exam and no statutory pass mark that applies across Canada. WHMIS education and training — and the way knowledge is evaluated — are the employer's responsibility, delivered by the employer or a provider they choose, subject to whatever their jurisdiction requires.

**In the eSafetyFirst WHMIS course**, the evaluation is multiple choice in the style of the questions above — pictogram recognition, label elements, SDS navigation, and worker and employer duties. It takes about 1 hour 45 minutes, **the pass mark is 80%**, and the certificate is issued the moment you pass, with a wallet card for you and a record for your employer. Any course covers the general education half; your employer must still provide training on the specific products and procedures in your workplace.

Scored well? The real exam takes about an hour — instant certificate, unlimited attempts.
